MANSFIELD, MA, DECEMBER 15, 2006 … PilotGEEK, LLC, an innovative business that develops software-based products for private pilots, announces new enhancements to its Cell Briefer, a system that allows pilots to access weather data, flight restriction and other pertinent information through use of a cellular phone.
Cell Briefer subscribers using cell phones that support the latest xhtml protocol now have access to the PilotGEEK Route Briefer, which allows the user to specify an origination and destination airport and receive a briefing of up to 10 weather stations between the initial and final points.
Another exciting upgrade included in the PilotGEEK Route Briefer is the addition of a RADAR link to each METAR reporting weather station. When selected this link will automatically display a radar image centered around the designated METAR station.
Additional features of the PilotGEEK Route Briefer include decoded TAF and METAR reports; user specifiable (25 or 50 nm) route width; quick links to TFR, METAR and TAF data; and true course and distance information from your origination airport.
In addition, the PilotGEEK Route Briefer now gives you access to your last requested route, width and decode state, eliminating the need to re-enter the data upon each visit.
Designed to provide an easy view of METAR, TFR, TAF and FSS data for users of older cell phones, the PilotGEEK Cell Briefer is operational through multiple modes, providing at-your-fingertips access to vital information.
The PilotGEEK web site, optimized for the cell phone, builds a cell phone web page that includes requested information, such as METAR, TAF, TAF and FSS data.
The PilotGEEK text message interface provides the same comprehensive information as the cell phone web page mode, but via a cell phone’s text messaging system.
The PilotGEEK event driven messaging system allows receipt of cell phone e-mail when weather or TFR data changes occur.
Available for a free 30-day trial period, the PilotGEEK Cell Briefer subscription rate is $14.99 a year.
